Erica Williams-Connell, daughter of Trinidad and Tobago’s late first Prime Minister Eric Williams, will address the Miramar Democratic Club, on Wednesday, March 12th at 7:30 PM at the Youth Enrichment Center, 7000 Miramar Parkway in Miramar.   She will speak about politics, democracy and her father’s legacy.  For the last 27 years since her father’s death, Ms. Williams-Connell has spearheaded the establishment of the Eric Williams Memorial Collection at The University of the West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago campus.  The collection was inaugurated in 1998 by former U. S. Secretary of State, Colin L. Powell.  It was named to UNESCO’S Memory of the World Register in 1999.  Secretary Powell heralded Dr. Williams as a tireless warrior in the battle against colonialism, and for his many other achievements as a scholar, politician and international statesman.

The public is invited to attend this meeting of the Miramar Democratic Club.  For further information, to join the organization or to receive announcements about activities, please contact Maggie Macaulay at (954) 431-4855 or maggie_macaulay@msn.com.
